Don’t Forget the Stone Switchplates

About a year ago I decided to liven up my kitchen.  It already had a nice counter top with a stainless steel sink,  new fixtures and cabinets and was recently painted.  It looked fantastic compared to what it looked like before the remodel was done.  But after a year or so it seemed to look plain to me again.  It needed something else but I just didn’t know what.  I contemplated on repainting the kitchen but decided otherwise.  Then while visiting a friend’s home, I notied the tile backsplash in their kitchen.  At that moment, I knew that was what my kitchen needed.

I decided to put up a travertine stone tile as a backsplash.  After I had installed the tile, I went to go put on the switch plates.  I hadn’t even thought about what I would do for the switch plates so I put the old white ones back on.  It looked horrible!  I couldn’t believe that I was ruining such a good looking kitchen.  What I really needed was some travertine stone switchplates.  When I went to the tile store to find matching stone switchplates, I was very surprised to see such a selection of different stone switchplates.  They had marble, granite, travertine, slate, quartz, onyx and imitation stone switchplates.  I found the perfect matching stone switchplates and came home.

I was very excited to see the backsplash with the new stone switchplates and outlet covers.  I couldn’t believe the difference that they made.  The kitchen looked completely different and a huge part of that was from the stone switchplates.  The difference between the white plastic and travertine stone switchplates was night and day.

I’m glad that I went to my friend’s house that one day to get the idea of doing a stone tile backsplash.  I’m even more grateful that the tile shop had the perfect matching stone switchplates.  Now I can enjoy my kitchen to it’s fullest.  It feels complete and I can thank the stone switchplates for that.
